Early Childhood Ministry

Our Early Childhood Ministry exists to support parents in their primary role as the Christian educators of their children. Whether during a morning or evening church service or Sunday School, we seek to nurture each child toward the day when he/she will have enough maturity to comprehend his/her sinfulness before God and the need to make a personal commitment to Him. Beginning with each child’s literal first steps, he/she participates in a simple Bible lesson that lays the foundational concepts of God and His love. With each ensuing year of growth come additional ingredients to this learning time. By the time a child reaches the 2’s and 3’s Department, the hour includes not only a Bible lesson and snack time but a variety of Activity Centers to enhance their learning by “doing”:

  • Activity Pages (done during the Sunday School hour) that provide each child with a personalized visual aid to use in reviewing the Bible story.
  • A craft (completed during the church hour) that helps them think and talk about what the day's Bible truth means in their daily lives. It, like the Sunday School craft, provides an interactive way to reinforce the day's Bible truth.
  • Music that involves every child so each one learns Scripture and biblical concepts in a fun and memorable way.
  • Books
  • Home Living
  • Skill Toys (puzzles, blocks, Legos)

Each week children receive a take-home paper that reviews the Bible story and suggests fun ways parents can reinforce the lesson throughout the week.

Our Early Childhood ministry is divided into three departments:

  • Babies & Toddlers
  • 2’s & 3’s
  • 4’s & 5’s

Children in our preschool departments are promoted quarterly: September 1, December 1, March 1 and June 1 — the next promotion time after the child has celebrated his/her birthday. (i.e. If a child turns two on December 2, he/she will move into the 2’s and 3’s Department the following March.) Students who have completed grades K-12 will advance to the next grade on September 1.
