The
Deacons are responsible for managing the financial affairs of
the church, maintaining the physical structure of the building,
and meeting the personal needs of its members. The Deacon
Board is made up of twelve men, who typically meet twice a month
to review the financial affairs of the church, approve policies,
procedures, and expenditures that facilitate the churches ministries,
and develop strategies to meet the physical needs of it's members.
Duties
and Qualifications
Responsibilities include administrative duties such as finances,
facilities, policies and procedures. An attitude of servanthood is
necessary for men in this position while they serve in the helps
ministries such as food pantry, transportation, and certain visitation.
Qualifications are that Deacons must be 30 years old,
and a member of the Evangelical Free Church of Sheboygan for at least
two years.
The term of service for Deacon is three years. Biblical texts proscribing
their leadership are found in 1Timothy 3:8-10, and vs 12-13 for
spiritual maturity. Examples are given in Acts 6:1-6, 8:26-39,
Luke’s
service to Paul in Acts 20-28 chapters, Timothy and Titus serving
with Apostle Paul and others mentioned in the Epistles.
